New York, NY (March 23rd, 2017) — As New York City supper club stalwart SWING 46 Jazz & Supper Club nears its 20th year of presenting live jazz music nightly for dining and dancing, management has named world-renowned swing impresario George Gee to the new position of Promotions Director.
George has been part of the SWING 46 family since its very beginning — in fact, his eponymous big band was the first live act to grace the club’s stage, right after opening night. And they have played every Tuesday night ever since… and many other nights as well! So there are few people more eager to sing its praises than George Gee.
Two decades on, George is proud to say, “SWING 46 is our home base here at the crossroads of the universe: Surrounded by Times Square, the clubs, the theaters, the restaurants. This is the only nightly jazz and swing dance club in the world! A bandleader, DJ and jazz historian, George Gee and his Orchestra are in demand for dances, concerts and special events around the world. But he still considers SWING 46 home and wants to bring a bigger spotlight to the club itself — especially as a milestone anniversary approaches.
“SWING 46 is a breeding ground of swing and the art of playing for social dancers. It amazes me, how important and well-known this club is to jazz and dance lovers around the world! I’ll travel to the Far East, Europe and the West Coast and people will come to me and say ‘Oh, we were in New York and saw you at SWING 46. Or vice versa! At the club, I’ve had people say, ‘We’re from Scotland and people told us, when you go to New York, you have to go to SWING 46! ”
